Let's bring clarity to what I do and how I do it!
This is one of the most common questions business owners ask.
The truth is — bookkeepers and accountants serve different, but equally important, roles.
A Bookkeeper helps with:
Day-to-day financial organization
Transaction management
Monthly reconciliations
Financial reporting
Keeping books accurate throughout the year
An Accountant helps with:
Tax preparation & filing
Depreciation calculations
Tax strategy
Compliance & higher-level financial advising
Having a bookkeeper manage your books consistently throughout the year often saves money in the long run because your accountant spends less time cleaning up records during tax season.
At Abide & Thrive Financial, I believe in teamwork. I'm happy to communicate directly with your accountant to help keep your business finances organized and running smoothly.
That I currently cannot do, but I can prepare your books and statements to give to your CPA or tax preparer.
First and foremost, I need honesty, transparency, and good communication and responsiveness with getting things to me when requested.
We’ll have a chat over Zoom, a phone call, or emails, whichever you prefer, and discuss exactly what I’d need. In general, I will need the last three statements for every account you have associated with your business - banks, loans, credit cards, vendors, etc to see what the monthly average of transactions is.
If we decide to work together, I will need all receipts and invoices for business expenses. I do require proof of purchase from all of my clients. I do this because if you should be audited, I want the process to go as smoothly as possible for you, and having all proof in QBO and ready to go is going to make it at least a little easier.
If it has to do with money and your business, I’ll probably need it!
Then I cannot post entries for those transactions. Everything must be able to be proven, or legally and ethically, they cannot be claimed.
Quickbooks Online is a separate purchase (unfortunately, I do not get free access for clients), and if you do not currently have an account, I can help you get one for a discount.
If you do currently have a Quickbooks account, you can add me as an accountant for free (you can have up to two, so your CPA will still have access as well).
This is because getting to know the business, catch up, setup, and cleanup are much more time consuming than the ongoing work monthly once it's setup, so the first month working with a business can require more time and attention than regular maintenance.
I only take on a few of these accounts at a time because of the amount of dedicated attention I give. Your business deserves the best, and I want to be able to provide that for you!
*If this only ends up taking 10 hours or less, such as for a brand new business or one with pretty clean books, this fee will be waived.
